Established in 1954 as Flotilla 27 and redesignated in 2010 as Flotilla 61, the Flotilla is one of the longest continually functioning Flotillas in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Flotilla boasts an extremely diverse membership including; a Medical Doctor; a School Teacher; some Attorneys; several Engineers, including Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Nuclear Engineers; a Professional Photographer; a Geophysicist; Retired individuals; individuals still working for a living; Business Owners; Grocery Clerk; a Licensed Sea Captain; Boat Owners; Scuba Divers; Retired and former Military from all Branches of Service (both Officer and Enlisted); Financial Planners; Insurance Experts; an Amateur Radio (HAM) Instructor; Emergency Medical Technician; a Retired Fire Captain; Mechanics including Auto, Truck and Aircraft; a Graphic Artist; Retired Law Enforcement Officers; Real Estate Brokers; a General Contractor and the list goes on.  So if you're looking for an opportunity to serve your country in the Auxiliary, no matter your background, you'll be certain to find a friendly home within Flotilla 61
